Effective Presentations - Public Speaking and Presentation Skills |
Public speaking is a catalyst to career development, yet many shy away from opportunities to speak.
The most prevalent areas of concern about speaking in public are managing anxiety, building confidence,
preparing the presentation, and delivering with style. Videotaping is integral to training success;
participants will see themselves as an audience would see them. A minimum of two days is needed to cover
the course material; three days provides in-depth presentation practice. Effective Presentations will benefit
individuals who find they must speak in public, either to individuals or to groups.
What to Expect: Effective Presentations encompasses everything related to the art of public speaking
from preparation to delivery to follow-through. The most common mistakes speakers make are identified
to heighten the presenter's awareness. This session addresses preparation from soup to nuts, delivery
dilemmas, and making a lasting impression. Videotaping and video-viewing are interspersed throughout
the training.

Communicate Through Conflict - Use Communication to Resolve Conflict |
Unresolved conflict produces low morale and low productivity as well as increased conflict and stress.
People are typically drawn into the negative effects of conflict and rarely take advantage of its benefits.
Innovation and resourcefulness are hidden seeds that conflict can expose. Communicate Through Conflict relies
heavily on communication techniques to comprehend behavior, understand and accept differences, and convey
messages with clarity. The outcome of this training is to identify paths to amenable resolutions.
What to Expect: The complexities of communication are dissected to increase awareness and understanding.
Style differences are identified along with techniques to use to gain cooperation. Ideas are shared to manage
negative emotions and diffuse aggressive or defensive behavior(s). Coping with difficult people and maintaining
composure are discussed as ways to build functional relationships. Exercises and case studies foster
discussion to create alternative outcomes.
Note: I recommend the Thomas-Kilman Conflict Mode Instrument™ or Insight Inventory™ (behavioral/personality
style evaluations) to help participants assess themselves and gain information to improve communication
with others. Assessments will be ordered upon request.
